Letter from the Editor
Dear Readers, You’ve just picked up a copy of Eastern University’s literary magazine, Inklings, a little piece of our writing community here. In our pages, you will find the work of students who believe in this magazine and who will continue to tell their stories even after you’ve put done this issue.
Inklings has been a huge part of my life for the past two years, and leaving it behind feels a little bit like saying goodbye. This magazine that you’re holding is the effort of many people other than myself. I want to thank both of my managing editors, Nicole Markert and Alanna Woody, for being such a huge part of this project. This magazine would not be possible without our design editor, Kelsey Fiander-Carr, or Jacqueline Irving and Kat Hayes, for their support through the process of printing. I also want to thank Erin Zak for keeping our blog running as wonderfully as it does, and for being such a vital resource during our editing process. I want to thank TJ Woody and everyone who supported us during our fundraising this year, as well as all of our editors who gave their time to read our submissions. The writers who come to our meetings have been so vital in fostering a community of writers here as Eastern, and I cannot wait to see what they do next year. I want to thank our English department, for supporting us and helping us grow our voices both in and outside of their classes.
Lastly, I want to thank you reader, for picking up a copy of Inklings and taking a chance on us. We’re excited to show you all of what our pages have to offer you and to let our writers move you. I think that we sometimes forget that writing can always do something, we just have to open our minds and let it. I hope you find everything you’re looking for in our pages, and that these writers inspire you like they have inspired me.
In my two years as Editor-in-Chief, I wanted to do a lot of things, and everything that I have done with Alanna, and with Nicole, Kelsey, and Erin have only moved this magazine forward from the moment we’ve had it. Inklings will only continue to grow, as it will outlive all of our times here at Eastern, but my experience with the magazine and the staff have been irreplaceable.
With love, Ruby Baker
